How do I replace the display in my iPod, iPod mini, iPod nano, or iPod touch?
If you are certain that the display in your iPod is broken -- if it is visibly cracked, for instance -- Apple can replace a damaged display in the iPod models for a price that generally is not cost-effective.
However, third-party services are available and if you are technically inclined, self-replacement is entirely possible. Installation is difficult and professional installation is strongly recommended.
iFixit provides instructions that can be used to replace the display in just about all of the iPod models. For the iPod 5G/video, PDAParts/DirectFix provides a helpful video:
From watching the video, you should be able to determine whether or not you would prefer to replace the display yourself or hire a professional.
